Movin on up

Today was an eventful day. Chase was sitting up when I got to the hospital. He was getting his hair brushed. He also was able to go into the bathroom 3 times today with help and use of a walker. He is able to use his right leg some now but still not his left arm as it has only been 5 days since the surgery on it. He was smiling big cheesy grins at us earlier. It was pretty cute and made us all laugh. He had a really good first half of the day. The second half of the day he was pretty agitated and upset. We're told this is all normal and will get better with time.

He had pulled his feeding tube and IV out last night so they did a swallow test on him to see if they needed to put the feeding tube back in. They decided to leave it out. So today he was able to eat some actual food and have some thick liquids to drink (like nectar). He was happy to get something to eat and drink.

The best part of the day is that he finally got moved up to the 12th floor for rehab (key in theme song for the Jeffersons)! We are so glad he's up there now and can start making even more progress. He is still not able to have visitors though. They want to limit it to just a few family members. We were told the visitors are distracting and cause too much stimulation. So for now it will still be only family. He will start the rehabilitation tomorrow. Yeah! :)

I am going back to work tomorrow working half days until Chase is out of the hospital so as not to use up all my PTO time. This way I will be able to have some left so that I can stay home for a bit with him when he gets home. The doctor said he will require someone to be there with him for 24 hours for awhile.

So, onward and upward (literally). Keep the prayers coming please. He's coming along but still needs your prayers. Thanks so very much!

Love,

Michelle
